If the learning function of a company hopes to contribute to the organization’s operational capacity, it will need three things:

  1. The talent development effort must be 100 percent aligned with organizational leadership.

  2. The learning team itself must be flexible — practically, genuinely and vigilantly flexible.

  3. The capabilities of that team need to constantly evolve in order to remain relevant.
